Mushroom Lady (part 1)

Hi my Patrons,

I posted this cute little fly agaric mushroom lady sketch onto my Facebook page a little while back. Sorry, I meant to share it here too! I wanted to try something slightly different, and she certainly brought a smile (or should I say a squeal of delight!) to my two girls! πŸ₯°

As the title suggests, this is part one of some more fun with this character! I shall post part two very soon and for my lovely Patrons eyes only, as exploring a different side to my art. Bye for now…😘

Rising Again

Over the past few crazy years, big changes and big decisions alongside big losses in my personal and professional life sapped a lot of my energy. As such, I’ve not always posted as frequently as I might have liked.

Amongst all of this, I also caught Covid last October and was very unwell for about a month. For those of you who don’t know, I am classed as Critically Extremely Vulnerable and am extremely lucky that things didn’t go far worse for me. Recovery has been taking a very long time. While mostly better, it also triggered my BehΓ§et’s, causing several back-to-back flare-ups on top of long Covid symptoms. While things could have been a lot worse, it has still been hard juggling everything as well as battling chronic fatigue and the mental impact that brings.

Not everything has been bad, but it has taken time to adjust. However, this has all made it rather hard to be quite as creative and still keep up with social media. The decision to home educate my children has been inspiring and grounding. Rekindling a drive to learn and create alongside them, I have probably gained almost as much from it as they have.

Things are slowly finding a rhythm, and I am fighting through my ongoing health issues. Like the phoenix in my painting, Birth of the Phoenix, I rise from the ashes and live again!

This too shall pass!

Hi my Patrons,

Sorry it’s been quiet on my postings over the past month, many things have been going on and sapping my energy. Here is a little sketch I did that sums up the mood of things lately!

Nevertheless, I am still here and will try catch up with things! Hopefully this little gnome will have a little more sunshine soon too. Hope you enjoy the sketch! πŸ₯° πŸ’›

Fairy Bard on his trusty Snail!

I also finished painting up my Fairy Bard on the back of his trusty snail! I have not done watercolour in a long time so this was a good chance to get some practice in. I also tried a little mixed media by adding a little colour pencil on top of parts I had painted. It does not show so clearly on the photo, but the fairy’s wings are made up of lovely shimmery metallic watercolours. I wanted to get a bit of a classic book illustration feel with added extra! πŸ˜‰ I hope you like the outcome! πŸ˜πŸ§šβ€β™‚οΈπŸŒ

Toad Amongst the Fungi

Hi my Patrons,

I am sorry for the lack of postings this month, time just flew by with still currently homeschooling our two girls. πŸ˜…

So to catch up a bit – this month I finished my Toad Amongst the Fungi picture! I mostly used Faber Castell polychromos colour pencils with a touch of white pen to highlight parts and add the Fly Agaric’s white spots. Done on thick sketch paper, not necessarily the best paper for lots of colour pencil layering, but it still came out rather well I think! Hope you like it too! πŸ₯°πŸΈπŸ„
